Open Collab is a regular livestream of music and poetry collaborations. We (Iris Lyre) ask for submissions from all over the world and then we improvise musical worlds around the words, streaming live on YouTube, this time from the beautiful Glass Studio of St George’s, Bristol.

The show has featured collaborations with poets from all over the world, with poets joining us on stage and on screen, and always being made available to everyone, whether they’re tuning in from Argentina or Canada, all across Europe and all the way to New Zealand.

Featuring photography by Nicky Ebbage.

Calling all poets

Started during the 2020 lockdowns as a way to keep collaborating and creating something special during a time of isolation and separation, every Open Collab show starts with a call-out across social media platforms for submissions of poetry and spoken word performance.

A global poetry and music event

With submissions from 6 countries and performances in multiple languages, Open Collab has always had a foundation of connection across cultures.

This show was no different: featuring poets from Spain, Canada, and across the UK and growing an online community of poets and spoken word performers on social media and through the livestream chat.

Online and in person

After 17 livestream shows, Open Collab began to expand into Hybrid Events. Taking place in iconic venues across Bristol, this was a chance to work with poets live on stage alongside a continued online presence with virtual collaborators and livestreaming.
