Marilyn Blue & Gold is digitally hand-painted artwork from a series of photo-montage studies exploring my response to iconic women. The setting for this image is an old oil paints box, with elements of the original photo cut and placed to form a new arrangement and association of the parts. In the reproduction, re-sizing, cutting and placement of these images, I’m exploring new harmonies and meaning, focusing attention on details that may not otherwise be obvious.
I used Adobe Sketch to ‘colourise’ this version, using a soft brush and palette of complementary blues and gold. I’ve been developing the technique of painting photographs since 1986. See my website for more examples The original full-scale version is printed to A1 size on archival quality Glycee art paper, supplied as a roll for framing of your choice.
